Unit 3: My Brief

1. What techniques of composition & continuity will you use (100 words min) 2. What Mise en scene (actors, costume, props, set dressing) and why? (100 words) 3. Location or Studio shoot and why? How will you maintain continuity? (100 words?) 4. What is the 180 deg rule & rule of 3rds - demonstrate with your cameraphones and upload to blog 5. Draw a Storyboard of your idea - advert length of 30 secs, include different angles, shots, movements (you will film this on Monday in class)

In the film industry composition and continuity must be kept in order to make the scene flow and not looks scrappy and unrealistic. There a various amount of ways in which an individual could go about maintain composition and continuity. Firstly, one of my ways of keeping continuity would be to take a wide angle picture of and the scene so it captures everything that the camera would see. I would take these at different angles and directions so I have more to go on when reposition my characters for another take. I would also maintain continuity and composition by putting down colourful tape in the shape of an ‘X’ on the floor so my actors know where they are walking to. Additionally, I will have a second colour of tape in the shape of an ‘X’ on the ground so the cameraman knows where they are waking to when they perform the tracking shots.

Mise en scene

Firstly, my main actor is going to be a female because almost every advert I have researched used a female as their victim of identity theft. I have chosen my identity theft to be a male because they have been portrayed to be the villain in many identity theft adverts I have researched. For my costume, I have chosen the female to wear jeans a bright top and a jacket with trainers, because I want to target the urban youth of the UK. For my criminal, I have chosen a black hoodie and dark jeans and dark trainers or shoes, as hoodies have a negative media stereotype in conjunction with criminal offences. I have used this hoodie stereotype because I want him to be instantly recognised as the criminal. The dark colours for the rest of the outfit are there to symbolise the unknown as we never know who may try to steal our identity. My most important prop would have to be the leaflet with the girl’s ID on she will have one stuck to her back whilst she is walking down the high street.

My most predominant location would be a high street. The reason for this is because that is where many people will be ale to see her Identity and have the choice to take it. A high street also has an urban vibe on the weekends as many teens go out to shop.

Camera techniques in the film industry of the media and implemented to add more of an effect to the scene. 'The 180° rule is a cinematography guideline that states that two characters in a scene should maintain the same left/right relationship to one another. When the camera passes over the invisible axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line and the shot becomes what is called a reverse angle.'
