The shift in media consumption patterns with children has had a positive relapse affect on certain areas of the media industry but also some negative too. Television is beginning to become less relevant in this digital age as shown through the results of my survey. The question posed was 'Which device does your child use or ask to use the most the results predictably showed that 40% of parents chose mobile phones and 30% chose tablets, suggesting they are the more popular media devices, compared to television only getting 8% of parents choice. The production output of television has evidently changed when we take the at the facts and statistics given to us by Barb. In 2014, their research showed a heavy amount of adventure shows on cartoon network and teen shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Now however, their 2017 statistics show the genre shift of content as on Cartoon network there are more superhero films and on Disney Channel more musical programmes.
