Research Catalogue

Research Catalogue

Item 1 - Childwise Published: February 2016 Accessed: October 2017 Report link: http://www.childwise.co.uk/uploads/3/1/6/5/31656353/childwise_press_release_-_monitor_2016.pdf
Childwise monitor report was published in 2016. This report is useful because it addresses a vast amount of children's statistics including the rise in children's online usage which backs up most of the research I have found.

Item 2 - BARB statistics published August 2014 and August 2017 Accessed: October 2017 Website link: http://www.barb.co.uk/
The website barb is the broadcasting audience research board, they are funded by media companies to gather view statistics of television. With is information I will be able to see consumption patterns and trends This is useful for me because my sector that I will talk about is the television industry.

Item 3 - Digital Awareness Accessed: December 2017 website link:  https://www.digitalawarenessuk.com/
This website is useful because it not only has factsheets that review issues about online concerns they created a mini YouTube series which gathers a focus group of teenaged girls and they talk about all the concerning issues related to social media and the internet, so they are gaining qualitative information. The digital awareness website also uses this not only to raise awareness but as a guide for unknowing parents that this is what can happen online.  This site replaced my Ofcom 2016 article.

Item 4 - Common Sense Media Published March 2017 Accessed: December 2017 Website link: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/
This site is useful because it has a range of case studies which relate to the topic at hand. They deal with parental concerns as well as children's online consumption. The research found here is going to be used as a comparison, to back up or disapprove of any statistics found in any other bits of research. This site replaced my industry trust article about children and illegal streaming.

Item 5 - Interview Accessed: October 2017
This interview was helpful because it gave an insight into an environment where children will spend the majority of their childhood which is school. The information I gathered showed that not only younger children have the knowledge to navigate their way through sites such as YouTube, but also how schools allow children to use tablet for learning aspects.

Item 6 - Survey Accessed: October 2017
This information was useful because it was used as extensive research to either prove or disapprove of any questions raised through the secondary online research that I found to do with children media consumption.
